the ridgway community food pantry was established in october 2010 by a group of concerned citizens who saw a need. in september of 2013 it acquired its own 501c3 and relocated to its current address at 257 sherman street in ridgway under the name ouray county food pantry.the board of directors has two primary goals. one is to serve the nutritionally underserved residents of ouray county in an efficient and respectful manner. secondly, to provide a meaningful volunteer opportunity for those persons who have a common interest in serving their community.pictureouray country food pantry does not discriminate in its services on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliations, and marital or family status.mission statementto provide ongoing food support to individuals and families in ouray county who are struggling with difficult life circumstances.ocfp is located at 257 sherman street in the colby building next to the river. at the traffic light on hwy 550 in ridgway, turn west (toward telluride) and go over the bridge. the colby building is the large log building on the right.opening hoursocfp is open every thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. it is open on the tuesday prior to thanksgiving and closed christmas week.qualificationsrecipients must be a resident of ouray county. on their first visit they are required to bring in proof of residency. this can be in the form of a rental receipt, a utility bill, bank statement or other document with their name and physical address on it.the number of people in the household determines the amount of food received at each visit.
